What is Screaming Uterus Syndrome?
Endometriosis is a common health problem in women. The name comes from the word endometrium, the tissue that lines the uterus. In this disorder, tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows and implants itself outside of the uterus, in other areas of the body. Your doctor may call these areas growths, tumors, implants, lesions, or nodules. With the onset of menses, these tissues bleed as well, causing pressure and pain that accompanies your cycle. Uterine fibroids, also a common health problem in women, are tumors or growths, consisting of muscle cells and other tissues that grow within the wall of the uterus. Though fibroids are sometimes called tumors, they are almost always benign tumors and not cancerous. Fibroids can grow as a single nodule or in clusters. Their size can vary from as small as an apple seed, to quite large, as large as a grapefruit. Fibroids have been found as large as eight inches across or more, though these are unusual cases. Both conditions can have a negative impact on a woman's fertility.
Both of these conditions commonly cause from moderate to significant pain in concert with your menstrual cycle, leading to what I call Screaming Uterus Syndrome. My name is Jeanie Marie Kraft. I am a licensed acupuncturist and I have personally struggled with these disorders. It was my frustration with current medical treatment options that led me to research my alternatives, especially acupuncture, herbs and Chinese medicine. I wrote this book to share with other women what I have learned.
What You Can Do About Your Screaming Uterus
There are many medical treatments for endometriosis and uterine fibroids, though none are universally effective, some are painful or have significant side effects, and many only treat symptoms and work for a short time. Hysterectomy is often suggested by doctors, as a last resort. What most women don't know is that there are other, effective and natural approaches to treating these disorders.
